According to this Globe and Mail article, Canada ranks high in the list of countries for individual privacy. I have to wonder if this is because we have really good privacy laws or that we just haven't been the target of any terrorist attacks recently.
Not surprisingly the US and Britian rated very low.
Just because we rated the best, doesn't mean our privacy isn't under attack. We still need to remain wary of any new technologies and goverment policies that, which usually mean well, eat away at our privacy.
Facebook, while a fun and easy way to keep in touch with people is NOT very good at keeping your information private, due to its relaxed default settings. Here's a 'best practice' document from security software vendor Sophos that 'recommend you set the following Facebook privacy options to protect against online identity theft.'
