Don't even ask me what 'Nish' means

Here's how a conversation I had with a co-worker went yesterday, not sure how we got on the topic...

Me: Yea, a lot of words you hear me say probably don't mean what you think it means..
CW: Like what... give me examples.
Me: Well, say there's a picture on the wall thats not hanging staight or even.. you would say its what... crooked? I would say its 'squish'.
CW: Squish? Squish is when you squeez something.. or squash something.
Me: No.. thats 'squat'...
CW: What? No, no... squat is when you crouch down, like doing exercises...
Me: Uhh, noooo.. thats quat..
CW: Quat? WTF is quat!?
Me: See thats what I'm talking about.
CW: I have no idea what you're talking about... go away.

I beleive this reinforces my assumption that the 'word to definition' assignment was handled via some sort of bingo/lottery system.
